Opportunities for international students studying in regional areas – 485 Visa

This scheme will offer for an additional Temporary Graduate 485 visa with an additional year of post-study work rights for international students who meet the following criteria:

• be graduates from the regional campus of a registered university with a higher education or postgraduate qualification
• kept living in a regional area while on their first Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa
• The second Temporary Graduate 485 visa will have a condition requiring the applicant to keep living regional Australia.

The additional Temporary Graduate visa may be accessed by students in 2021. This is because they need to graduate and then spend 2 years in a regional area.

Existing Temporary Graduate visa holders may be eligible, providing they are able to meet these criteria.

This initiative definitely offers additional motivation for international students to consider and to study in regional Australia.
